has anyone turned it down or know of someone who did turn down being an elder or ms?.

yes, it should be one of the biggest privileges a brother can get !!

in a way--i turned down the chance to be an elder. this was when the whole thing was just getting going..1971. i had been having serious thoughts about quitting altogether. i was due to give the public talk that afternoon. i just couldnt even look at the script sheet. i phoned the cong servant--and went to see him that morning. we had a friendly chat..he told me he had been about to recommend me as an elder, so he was glad i had come to see him.

he went on to suggest i take a back seat for a while, and think things over. no prayers or looking at then bible together. what was more surprising was that this guy had at one stage been a branch servant !

7 during the thousand year rule of christ, all of jehovah’s earthly children will have to make changes to please him.

so all of them will have true fellow feeling as they help the resurrected ones to combat sinful tendencies and to live by jehovah’s standards.

i live on the Isle of Wight ( correct spelling )...an island off the south coast of England , UK.

the local Kingdumb Hall--one of the first quick-builds, sold for about half a million pounds in recent years. the few dubs that were still going now share another hall ( a former church!!) with 2 other dwindling congregations.

how is it right that the watchtower can hoof out the congregation--sell their hall from over their heads--and now make them attend a former church ? it stinks.

UK Civil Service Damns UK Government

following the daily covid19 briefing, in which boris johnson defended his advisor dominic cummings for travelling to his family estate after showing symptoms of the virus, the civil service official twitter feed posted the following.. .

the tweet was quickly deleted.

i can't overstate how unthinkable it is that the service should publicly criticise the government of the day.. boris' defense of cummings is a huge error in judgement and will destroy its credibility.

the English consevative party can do whatever they like ! there's nothing anyone can do about it. They had a massive majority in the most recent election. there is no effective opposition to defeat them in any vote.

Craziest thing you ever saw in a KH?

i did this in my facebook group for my podcast and it was fun.. so what's the craziest thing you ever saw?.

for me it was watching a brother have a heart attack during the meeting in the auditorium.

i was a kid and noticed him shaking and acting strange.

Bro Walker was a lovely chap--from the Caribbean. Every body loved him. His only fault--he always overran his platform assignments. he was always getting counselled for it, but it made no difference.

one evening--in the min school--he was well into his talk--when ding went the time up bell. He carried on regardless. Ding for a second time. There was no 3rd time...the min school servant--and another bro--walked up on stage---each took hold of one of Bro Walkers elbows--and marched him off the stage. Riotous laughter. Even Bro W saw the funny side.

thats true--i was there--i saw it. i was Mag/terr servant and a reg pio at the time, about 1967.

ha ha ha--i heard that one too--back in the late 60's. only it was the Red Sea crossing then.

Repercussions for sexual immorality

hello, i was hoping to get some clarification about how people are disciplined for immorality as a jw.

i became involved with a co-worker a few years ago, she was fairly aggressive and she initiated a physical relationship very quickly.

at the time i did not know she was married and a jw.

it sounds to me like you have had a very lucky escape. how about a change of job...in a new location...make a complete new start.
